Samantha Frappell

Dr Samantha (Sam) Frappell is a senior Modern History teacher at Abbotsleigh, Wahroonga. She holds a PhD in History from the University of Sydney and has written extensively for primary and secondary students, including Civil Rights in the USA (Small Caps, 2022). She was also series editor of Macmillan History Stage 4 (2013).

Sam’s historical interests span American, Japanese, medieval, film and Australian history. Beyond the classroom, she leads professional learning tours for teachers with Libertas Travel and presents Cornerstone courses on civil rights in the United States and Japan.

A highly accomplished educator, Sam helped guide one of her students to achieve first place in NSW for Modern History in 2023. She is passionate about making complex historical ideas accessible and equipping students with the knowledge and analytical skills needed to succeed.
