Damien Green
Co-author of Good Humanities 9 and 10, and co-author of Good History NSW Stage 5
Damien Green has taught full-time at The King David School since 2001. He has contributed extensively to curriculum development, textbook writing, and teacher education across the Victorian and national contexts.
From 2018–2021 and 2024–2025, Damien co-authored chapters for the Good Humanities Year 9 & 10 History and Geography textbooks (Matilda Education) and served as a reviewer for the series. Damien is also a co-author of the 2025 Good History NSW Stage 5 resource. He also co-authored units for the Victorian Curriculum F–10 (2017–2018) and has been an ongoing contributor to academic panels developing Study Designs for VCE Religion and Society with the Victorian Curriculum and Assessment Authority (2017–2021; 2022–present).
Damien was Head Writer for VCE Checkpoints: Religion and Society Units 3 & 4 (2017–2021) for Cambridge University Press, and co-authored the VCE Religion and Society Units 1–4 textbook for Cengage Learning (2016) and Macmillan Education (2012). The latter received a ‘Highly Commended’ award at the Australian Publishers Association Awards in its first year.
In 2019, Damien completed Holocaust Studies for Australian Educators at the International School for Holocaust Studies, Yad Vashem, Israel. He has extensive experience designing and delivering Holocaust (Shoah) education across formal curricula, VCE courses, and broader school programs, including seminars and assemblies.
Damien has served as an Executive Member of the Religion and Society Teachers’ Network, contributing to the organisation of conferences, lectures, and professional learning workshops for educators. His work has consistently included a focus on Holocaust education and pedagogy.
In 2006, he was selected to write curriculum at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem for The Florence Melton School, supported by the LA Pincus Fund for Jewish Education in the Diaspora. His engagement with Holocaust education spans decades: since 1989, he has been involved in Jewish youth leadership and training in Holocaust education; he has delivered programs in weekend religious schools; and he has contributed to teacher training initiatives in regional New South Wales Catholic schools on Judaism and the Holocaust.
